Ridgewood Elementary Announces New Assistant Principal

Sunnie Otto will serve as the new Assistant Principal at Ridgewood Elementary alongside Principal, Brandy Copeland. The doors to Frenship’s ninth elementary school will open this August.

The 2024-2025 school year marks Sunnie Otto’s 14th year in education. She has spent her entire career at Frenship ISD. Otto has served in several different positions such as: substitute, tutor, interventionist, 4th grade teacher, 3rd grade teacher, 5th grade teacher, Texas Tech Principal Fellow, instructional coach, and assistant principal.

She believes that her experience has prepared her to serve as Ridgewood Elementary’s first Assistant Principal.

“I have enjoyed every position for different reasons, but I joined Ridgewood because creating a culture of excellence from the ground up is incredibly exciting,” said Otto. “The beauty of my job as an assistant principal is how intricately I get to know students, families, and staff.”

Otto loves being in the Frenship Family and is looking forward to meeting the new students at Ridgewood this August.

“My most favorite part of being in Frenship are the people,” said Otto. “My life's work is people, and I love the way we all support each other to work for the common growth of students.”

Otto grew up in Southern California, and went to the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana, for undergrad, then Texas Tech for her masters’ degree. Outside of school she enjoys reading, traveling, and playing board games. According to Otto, she also has “mad yo-yo skills”. We encourage you to challenge her to a yo-yo battle if you see her.

We are happy to have you on the Ridgewood administration team, Sunnie Otto!
